Let’s Go Pearls!

Let’s Go Pearls!

Don’t let the cold, snowy weather stop you from feeling fabulous. Don some pearls anyway you choose, and you will feel like you can run the world (LET’S GO PEARLS!)

IMG_5381

I’m so happy that pearls have made such a huge comeback in 2017/2018, they’re popping up everywhere (on everything!) To create this look I pulled together a few of my favourite pearl embellished items from my closet.

IMG_5382

The great thing I love about pearls is that you can wear them and pair them with just about anything, not to mention, they add elegance to any look!

IMG_5419

IMG_5646IMG_5651IMG_5652

Go out and buy yourself something with pearls, trust me, these aren’t your grandmother’s pearls, you won’t regret it!

Flamingos & Frills

Flamingos & Frills

Just for the (frill) of it, I decided to mix two of my favourite things: flamingos, and frills. The result…a super adorable girly look that can either be dressed up or dressed down!

IMG_9102IMG_9107IMG_9111IMG_9118

Yet another flamingo print top! I just can’t stop, and I couldn’t resist the urge to scoop this one up from J-Crew (similar styles available). I always size down in clothes from J-Crew as I find they are very generous with their sizes. Since this is a comfy tee, I went with an xs, it’s loose yet still perfectly fitting! The fuchsia pink watercolour design and flamingos that form into a heart sold me right away. Priced at just $20 on sale how could I say no? I paired the top with a matching flourscent pink button down cardigan also from J-Crew (old style, similar here) to really tie together the look! With it being so warm outside and cold inside the office, adding a light, matching cardigan is the ultimate summer dressing hack!

IMG_9106IMG_9115

These gingham print frilled trousers from Top Shop were also spotted on Miley Cyrus during the One Love Manchester benefit concert.

ariana-grande-miley-cyrus-manchester-170604-inline_425ed53ce7c83523d366a43559bcb47e.today-inline-large

I have received so many compliments on them and with their loose fit and high waist, they are comfortable for everyday wear! I managed to score them, and the matching jacket (not pictured) majorly on sale during a promotional period online at Hudson’s Bay I got both pieces for under $50 (regular $80+ each).

IMG_9105

What’s a flamingo themed outfit without matching shoes? I ordered these online from ASOS for half price ($27.00)! I love the little detail of the flamingo with the sparkly gold hearts! It has a small heel so they’re comfortable but also gives you that little added height.

IMG_9103IMG_9101

Since I had both a loud print pant and top, I went with minimal accessories. I opted for a marble cat-eye lens sunglass (Quay Australia). The cay-eye, a popular trend in the 50’s and 60’s has made a big comeback in a very big way, and I’m loving it! These are my favourite brand of sunglasses right now, and while I usually order them online from ASOS when they go on sale, I managed to score these from my local Winners for only $16 (they’re listed at $81 on ASOS.) In keeping with the bright pink theme, I went with a matching Kate Spade purse for an added pop of pink (because you can never have too much pink, ever!)

IMG_9109IMG_9108

And of course, the cutest little addition to my outfit- my new Iced Tea Press from David’s Tea. This style is sold out online, but you can call your local store to have them check the irstock! It’s currently marked down from $30.00 to $19.00 and I’m already obsessed!

IMG_8336

I had my eye on this bag for a while, it’s the perfect Clare V dupe without breaking the bank. I actually managed to scoop it up  before it sold out when the Zara summer sale started! It’s so spacious and goes with just about anything. The bag has a removable long shoulder strap, or it can be worn as a tote.

IMG_8337

My sister picked out these Zara shorts and t-shirt and shorts for my birthday (she knows my flamingo obsession really well!)

IMG_8338

IMG_8339

I mean, come on, a giant fuzzy flamingo, this shirt couldn’t be any more me if it tried!

IMG_8344

I finished off this look with a pair of pale pink mules (Winners- $29.00)- these have seriously become my go-to shoes, they go with everything and are the perfect height! I added a  pair of clear, cat-eye Quay Sunglasses (asos- $24- now sold out- also available here)

Thanks for visiting!

POP of pink!

The moment I laid eyes on this dress I knew I had to have it! This stunner provides the ultimate POP of pink! After seeing it come up online on Banana Republic,  I noticed it becoming increasingly popular among bloggers on Instagram. I waited a bit to purchase it, and I’m glad I did because I ended scoring it for more than half off the original price!

I’m such a huge fan of bold prints and bright colours so this dress fits in perfectly to my existing wardrobe. I kept the rest of the outfit simple by adding a camel coloured trend, nude pumps, a silver mini bag and silver watch and brooch.

Stepping into Spring (style)

Stepping into Spring (style)

Trying to step into Spring with some transitional pieces but Mother Nature has different plans for me.

IMG_2949

This striped knit dress from H&M took me right through the Fall and Winter seasons by simple adding a leather jacket over top. The stretch of the fabric makes this dress so comfortable and hugs in all the right places. I love the slits on the hem of the dress, they are also on the hem of the sleeves, I’m a huge fan in little details like those.

IMG_2955

I styled it this time around with a sleek black leather jacket, small black and gold embellished belt, black booties with gold-detailed heel and my new favourite saddle bag from Coach. The burgundy tone of the bag was the perfect compliment to the stripe pattern on the dress.

IMG_2942

Hopefully soon I’ll be packing away the leather jacket/boots and bringing out the sandals, flow-y summer fabrics and prints, but for now I’ll continue rocking looks like this one!

Trendsetters and Cocktails with Mapleview Centre

Trendsetters and Cocktails with Mapleview Centre

I was so fortunate to be selected to attend  the”Trendsetters & Cocktails” Event with Mapleview Centre to help them launch their Personal Styling Program. It was located in Burlington at Station Home, in the same plaza as Holland Park Garden Gallery. I had never been to this venue before, but will definitely be going back to. It was the perfect setting for a fun-filled stylish night. We were immersed in  beautiful decor and trinkets that were for sale if anything caught your eye. Upon entering the event we were welcomed and headed straight to the bar (of course). How could we not with beautiful signature sangria and cotton candy cocktails? The staff from Saving Thyme did an incredible job catering the event. They walked around with a beautiful array of appetizers as well as the delicious macarons and pumpkin cheesecake dip that was on the table (conveniently in the line for the fashion illustrations). There were also staff from Purdy’s Chocolatier dishing out the latest and greatest chocolates and everyone’s favourite Purdy’s chocolate hedgehogs.

image

image

After taking a look around at the venue, grabbing some tasty treats and admiring all the decor pieces we decided to get in line to get our fashion illustrations done. This was one thing of the night that I was most looking forward to. I was lucky enough to have got an illustration done for me ahead of time from one of the outfits I submitted for the contest. I just couldn’t resist getting another sketch done after seeing how adorable mine had turned out. Mike Hakk is one extremely talented Fashion Illustrator from Toronto and I give him so credit for hanging in there for over 2 hours doing none stop illustrations. I can’t wait to get my illustrations framed. I will definitely be following along with him and would love to have him do some more illustrations for me in the future.

image

image

image

(Seriously cannot get over the cuteness!)

After the excitement of getting our sketches done, we headed over to the DIY flower bouquet station. There was a huge assortment of fresh fall flowers to pick from and assemble courtesy of Blossoms of Burlington. There is nothing I love more than fresh flowers in your home, especially when you get to pick exactly how you want it to look! Thanks so much for providing the beautiful blossoms to all of us!

image

While we are on the subject of blooms… can we talk about this amazing flower wall? When I walked in and saw this, and, noticed that my outfit matched perfectly I knew it was going to make for a great photo okay, many photos. There was a station set up that would take your picture for you and you could email it to yourself to share on social media. I could have taken endless pictures with this wall, job well done!

image

image

While we are on the topic of my outfit matching the flower wall let me talk a little bit about the details of my outfit choice. Now while I considered going for a super fall look I’m glad I went with the outfit I did. I paired this beautiful pink Zara jacket with a floral skirt also from Zara, a basic lace-trimmed tank-top and some pretty amazing wedge heels. I kept accessories to a minimum and instead of doing my typical statement necklace, I opted for a pair of statement earrings. The pair I’m wearing are the double sided stud in silver from Obsessions Fashion. Obsessions is my go-to place for accessorizing my life, and they fit in perfectly with my affordable style. Check out their Instagram, they are always posting their newest arrivals and even hosting contests were you could win some great swag!

image

image

image

After being totally spoiled it just kept getting better. Caryl Baker Visage was doing get eyebrow makeovers which I think is great for everyone to get to learn how to do them and do them properly. Now while me myself didn’t get them done I was in line to get my hair braided from the lovely ladies at Clip Salon. After seeing everyone walking around with amazing on trend braids I had to get one done! With so many types to choose from I really liked the braid Krystin from Suburban Faux Pas had so they recreated one on me. I loved it so much I wanted to show it off at work the next day. It actually held in place so well and I got so many compliments on it, I think I’ll have to practice so I can do it myself.

image

image

Nearing the end of the night I got to chat with two of the winners of the personal styling program at Mapleview (@themintedmama and @thestylemogul), a huge congrats again to you two, and to @iamkhoule for taking 1st place in the contest, you go girl! I also got a chance to talk to Krystin, who is seriously the sweetest and one bad-ass fashion/travel/decor and beauty blogger. She is so knowledgable about social media and blogging and is truly inspiring. We share such a similar sense of style and I love following along on her page to see her latest finds and outfit stylings! We chatted for a while about it and she gave me some little hints on how to enlarge my audience, we even snapped a pic together- I think that got me some serious street cred in the blogger world!

image

Thank you so much again to Mapleview Centre and their marketing agency- Midfield Interactive for putting on one amazing event, and putting together such a great swag bag. I had such a great time and I hope to see some of those beautiful/inspiring faces again very soon!

Hope you come back and visit soon!

Reitmans Summer ’16 Collection

Reitmans Summer ’16 Collection

Reitmans Summer ’16 Collection

Summer is now well underway and I couldn’t be happier to style some of the season’s hottest trends. The temperatures are hot hot hot so I’ve rounded up some of my favourite looks that will keep you looking cool this summer. I’ll share with you some of my personal faves from Reitmans Summer ’16 Collection and definite must-haves to add to your wardrobe.  For clothes that are always on trend, comfortable, and won’t break the bank head on over to your local retail location or Reitmans.com

Today is the last day to enter to win a 7 night all-inclusive trip for 2 to Varadero, Cuba with accommodations at the beautiful Melia Peninsula Resort. I snapped my best summer ready looks with the hashtag #reitmansreally to be entered in the contest. Wish me luck, I could really use a getaway right about now! 🙂

Nothing says summer quite like relaxing by the pool. Now add in sporting an adorable striped dress and straw hat into the mix with your favourite sunnies and you are owninh summer style 101.  I first saw this look on a display board in a Reitmans retail store and when I saw how Meghan Markle styled it I thought I would bring it home and try it out for myself, I love how comfortable and versatile this dress is! Just throw on and go!

What to wear to work can be a daunting task for some. Work-wear in the summer can be even worse. You have to be able to find the perfect balance of breezy materials that are still work appropriate. For me, I love to rock lots of white in the summer…while I still have the chance (I’m one of those that follows the no white after Labour Day rule…for the most part anyways.) I love adding fun pops of colours or patterns so these sateen cropped floral pants hit all the right marks. I am also always freezing no matter the season. Adding a classic white blazer on top of your summery tank is perfect for that over air-conditioned office.

IMG_8214.JPG

image

To complete my trendy office look I added a white blazer and white lace-up espadrille heeled sandals with some fun coloured lens sunglasses. Throw on a pair of classic white sneakers to take your style game to the next level once you’re off the clock.

Nothing says summer style quite like a cold-shoulder. I was so happy when this trend came back and I am truly a huge fan! When I saw the fun tropical print of this one from Reitmans I knew it was going to be a must-have addition to my summer wardrobe. I paired mine with white denim jean shorts to really make the patterned top pop. You could style it with blue jeans or even black, that’s another thing I love about it.

IMG_8222

I’ve always been a huge fan of rompers/jumpsuits, mostly for the fact that it’s just one article of clothing and you are done. There is no having to worry about matching, it’s uniformity is what makes it one of my summer go-to style picks.

IMG_8166

I kept this look simple and added some lace-up fringe heeled sandals and green lens Rayban aviators. I went with a braided low bun as the hot hot sun has been doing crazy things to my hair when it’s down. This is a perfect outfit for going out with friends. If temps drop over night, pair it with a white denim jacket and you’re set for the night!

I saved the best for last. I am in love, no, OBSESSED, with every part of this dreamy “sunset” maxi dress. This dress is part of collaboration Meghan Markle has done with Reitmans. When I first saw a picture from Reitmans Dress Capsule Collection I instantly fell in love with the palm-leaf print, flowy material and ohhhh, that open low back. This dress is the epitome of summer style whether you rock it at a summer wedding or on a vacation (here’s to keeping my fingers crossed for a sunkissed trip to Cuba.)

This is exactly how I feel when wearing this dress, like I could just float away into dream land!

IMG_7854

IMG_8228IMG_7866IMG_7864

I really couldn’t help but jump for joy in this dress. It just had me in the best summer mood!

IMG_7852

This is one dress that is sure to have the compliments rolling in and have you standing out for all the right reasons.

IMG_8229

I swept my hair up in a low bun and added plain black Rayban aviator sunglasses to keep the main spotlight on a dress that makes a statement all on its own.

Fashion Fridays with Erica Wark

Fashion Fridays with Erica Wark

A few weeks ago I was beyond lucky to win a contest which entailed a $500 shopping spree with fashion expert and stylist Erica Wark at Bramalea City Centre!

FullSizeRender (39)

I love to shop and I love following along with Erica on Instagam, Twitter and her T.V segments so I knew I was in for a great day.

IMG_0025 (1)

IMG_0024

Of course I had to accessorize for spring shopping with this gorgeous spring necklace from Obsessions Fashion.

Erica and I started off in BCBG, which is somewhere I’ve always walked by and admired but never bought anything from. Erica asked if there was anything I was looking for in particular, but I couldn’t think on the spot. She started picking out some black blazers and then it reminded me that I was due for a new one. I usually don’t spend tons on blazers and have had the same one for a few years now so it was time to get rid of the old and in with the new! There were three different styles that Erica had me try on. One of my favourites was a Mackage inspired blazer with leather sleeves. However, I decided to be reasonable knowing the price of these blazers and opt for a classic black blazer that is more practical for my everyday life which I would wear to work. I also tried on some absolutely stunning shift dresses in this spring/summer’s hottest patterns and colours! After debating back and forth about one dress and the blazer we decided to put these items on hold and check out some other stores. Since BCBG was the first store we hit I didn’t want to spend all my money in one place, literally.

So off we went to H & M next. H & M is my go-to for not only trendy, in-style items but also affordable basics. There was a beautiful display at the front of the store with items from their summer collection. The vibrant hues and boho vibes were to die for! There were a few things that stood out to me right away but since I knew I would probably never get this opportunity again I let Erica take the lead to pick out items for me. And boy, was I ever happy that I did. On one of the mannequins was a red-y-orange dress with tassels on the sleeves. Never in a million years would I ever think to try this one on, let alone buy it! This was an item that I trusted Erica’s expertise on and decided to try it on. I don’t wear my close exceptionally tight but this dress is extremely flowy. I asked Erica’s advice about it and let me know that I was able to pull it off because of my height and figure. I’m so glad I trusted her advice with this one as I really went out of my comfort zone with it! I cannot wait to rock this dress for my Portugal trip at the end of the summer, I can tell you that this dress has Portugal written all over it (pictures to come of course!) Some other great advice I got while trying on some clothes was that again, because of my height and long-torso I can rock cropped jackets. I’ve always steered away from them all this time when really they are the perfect compliment to my body. I picked up two really great blazers for work, majorly on sale too!

Chronicles from the change room, SO much fun! The black lace off-the-shoulder top was one of my favourite pics from H&M.

Twinning in the changeroom!

Next we were off to Express. Erica went straight for the jeans. Oh the jeans!! Erica warned me that once I owned a pair of these they would change my world and I would fall in love. Once I tried them on I knew exactly why she had said that. They were so comfortable and looked like expensive designer jeans without the price tag! They go for around $78, but that day there was buy 1 get one 50% off, so of course I jumped at that opportunity. Erica picked out a few different styles and colours for me, but ultimately left it up to me for the colours as she said I know my wardrobe best. I went with a classic black skinny jean and a darker-wash of slightly ripped jeans. I am so so in-love, thank you Erica for introducing me to my new favourite pair(s) of jeans!

I rang through my other items at Express which was a basic three-quarter sleeve top that Erica also recommended as she has one and says she lives in it its so comfortable. After wearing it that night I went home I knew this was a great choice! I also picked up a reverisble tank top, they had a lot of different colours and patterns but I opted for vibrant flowers that reversed to black.

After cashing out at Express we totaled up my receipts while remembering my items on hold at BCBG. Because I had done so well at H & M and Express there was now  enough left for just the blazer.

After our last stop at BCBG with bags in tow, Erica and I got together for some pictures! I am such a fan of these pictures, they really encapsulate the day so perfectly.

I couldn’t not snap a pic of these amazing cut-out gold detailed heeled booties. I ordered these online from Forever 21 and was so glad I did as they sold out so quickly!

Thank you SO much to Bramalea City Centre for selecting me as the winner for this shopping spree and of course, Erica Wark for making the day so special!

Also, a huge thank you to Obsessions Fashion for making sure my accessory game was strong, as per usual!
