Flamingos & Frills

Flamingos & Frills

Just for the (frill) of it, I decided to mix two of my favourite things: flamingos, and frills. The result…a super adorable girly look that can either be dressed up or dressed down!

IMG_9102IMG_9107IMG_9111IMG_9118

Yet another flamingo print top! I just can’t stop, and I couldn’t resist the urge to scoop this one up from J-Crew (similar styles available). I always size down in clothes from J-Crew as I find they are very generous with their sizes. Since this is a comfy tee, I went with an xs, it’s loose yet still perfectly fitting! The fuchsia pink watercolour design and flamingos that form into a heart sold me right away. Priced at just $20 on sale how could I say no? I paired the top with a matching flourscent pink button down cardigan also from J-Crew (old style, similar here) to really tie together the look! With it being so warm outside and cold inside the office, adding a light, matching cardigan is the ultimate summer dressing hack!

IMG_9106IMG_9115

These gingham print frilled trousers from Top Shop were also spotted on Miley Cyrus during the One Love Manchester benefit concert.

ariana-grande-miley-cyrus-manchester-170604-inline_425ed53ce7c83523d366a43559bcb47e.today-inline-large

I have received so many compliments on them and with their loose fit and high waist, they are comfortable for everyday wear! I managed to score them, and the matching jacket (not pictured) majorly on sale during a promotional period online at Hudson’s Bay I got both pieces for under $50 (regular $80+ each).

IMG_9105

What’s a flamingo themed outfit without matching shoes? I ordered these online from ASOS for half price ($27.00)! I love the little detail of the flamingo with the sparkly gold hearts! It has a small heel so they’re comfortable but also gives you that little added height.

IMG_9103IMG_9101

Since I had both a loud print pant and top, I went with minimal accessories. I opted for a marble cat-eye lens sunglass (Quay Australia). The cay-eye, a popular trend in the 50’s and 60’s has made a big comeback in a very big way, and I’m loving it! These are my favourite brand of sunglasses right now, and while I usually order them online from ASOS when they go on sale, I managed to score these from my local Winners for only $16 (they’re listed at $81 on ASOS.) In keeping with the bright pink theme, I went with a matching Kate Spade purse for an added pop of pink (because you can never have too much pink, ever!)

IMG_9109IMG_9108

And of course, the cutest little addition to my outfit- my new Iced Tea Press from David’s Tea. This style is sold out online, but you can call your local store to have them check the irstock! It’s currently marked down from $30.00 to $19.00 and I’m already obsessed!

IMG_8336

I had my eye on this bag for a while, it’s the perfect Clare V dupe without breaking the bank. I actually managed to scoop it up  before it sold out when the Zara summer sale started! It’s so spacious and goes with just about anything. The bag has a removable long shoulder strap, or it can be worn as a tote.

IMG_8337

My sister picked out these Zara shorts and t-shirt and shorts for my birthday (she knows my flamingo obsession really well!)

IMG_8338

IMG_8339

I mean, come on, a giant fuzzy flamingo, this shirt couldn’t be any more me if it tried!

IMG_8344

I finished off this look with a pair of pale pink mules (Winners- $29.00)- these have seriously become my go-to shoes, they go with everything and are the perfect height! I added a  pair of clear, cat-eye Quay Sunglasses (asos- $24- now sold out- also available here)

Thanks for visiting!

POP of pink!

POP of pink!

IMG_6672IMG_6673IMG_6674IMG_6675IMG_6677IMG_6678IMG_6680IMG_6681IMG_6684

The moment I laid eyes on this dress I knew I had to have it! This stunner provides the ultimate POP of pink! After seeing it come up online on Banana Republic,  I noticed it becoming increasingly popular among bloggers on Instagram. I waited a bit to purchase it, and I’m glad I did because I ended scoring it for more than half off the original price!

I’m such a huge fan of bold prints and bright colours so this dress fits in perfectly to my existing wardrobe. I kept the rest of the outfit simple by adding a camel coloured trend, nude pumps, a silver mini bag and silver watch and brooch.

Talk Derby To Me- DIY Derby Party

Talk Derby To Me- DIY Derby Party

Anyone that knows me knows I am the biggest fan of themed parties so when a friend suggested doing a Kentucky Derby themed party I jumped at the idea. I also love to decorate and party plan, and so the fun began…

IMG_4855

If you are like me and have always wanted to attend the Kentucky Derby but just can’t fathom the cost, this was a great alternative and fun to see everyone dress up in their best Derby attire. If you aren’t one of the lucky ones that gets to attend the coveted Derby and rock a beautiful floral dress and elaborate hat/fascinator, why not try an at-home version instead?

The Attire:

What’s even more important than the race itself is all the beautiful fashion that comes with it. I have to say I’m guilty for following along every year on social media only to check out the derby style with the upmost envy!

IMG_4820

Fascinator: Obsessions Fashion, Dress: Banana Republic

The good news is, since you will be doing a DIY version your outfit really doesn’t have to break the bank! For the ladies, you’re more than likely to find a floral or flowy dress already in your closet! The Kentucky Derby is known for its over the top hats and fascinators so having one is a must!  Finding a big floppy hat or fascinator will really top off your look! A lot of my friends bought hats from the dollarstore and then glued on flowers and they looked amazing!  For the gentlemen, wear a pair khakis or pastel coloured pants and throw on fun colour/print shirt, a sports jacket and of course, a bowtie and straw fedora!IMG_5007

My favourite accessory store (Obsessions Fashion) gifted me with this beautiful white fascinator adorned with small feather details and stunning veil.

Sips/Snacks:

I kept the food to a minimum so the focus would be on the fun games and everyone socializing! Of course no Derby is complete without mint juleps. I made a large jug of it using (Powdered sugar, Bourbon whiskey, Water, and Mint leaves  ). Add some fun straws into mason jars or traditional julep silver cups to get the real experience! Next on the food table were mini pulled pork sliders, easy to pick up and eat. The pork was cooked in bourbon bbq sauce (bourbon whisky is the liquor of the South).

IMG_4852

IMG_5391IMG_5392IMG_5393

Bourbon Barrel Stout and Bourbon Whisky straight from Kentucky were the perfect touch to the bar!

AG Macarons donated this beautiful assortment of colourful French macarons that matched perfectly with the décor on the table and were to die for!

IMG_4972IMG_4974IMG_4977

Now to the Cadillac of cakes…this 14k gold dipped cake from The Social Cupcake is seriously #cakegoals. When I was envisioning my Birthday cake this was exactly what I had in mind from top to bottom. I cannot thank the wonderful staff for making all my cake dreams come true, it made my Birthday extra special. I had also planned to have the cake match the photo booth wall.  The first tier was vanilla cake with classic buttercream icing and the second layer was red velvet with cream cheese icing. I still cannot get over every single detail of this cake and how intricate these flowers are (would you believe me if I told you they were edible, you better believe it!

IMG_4998IMG_4999IMG_5003IMG_5002IMG_5040IMG_5044

Décor:

Once I landed on doing a Kentucky Derby themed party I started to think of décor. After googling a few images right away tons of flowers popped up and the ideas starting flowing. Thanks to Bloomingful Flowers, guests were able to capture their Derby looks infront of this stunning customized 8 foot paper flower wall. Fill a box with lots of props and extra floppy hats, etc so the guests can get creative with their pictures and have something to remember 🙂

IMG_4613

IMG_4612

I picked up this fake grass from Homesense it was the perfect compliment to the floral backdrop!

IMG_4822IMG_4823

The illuminating circle lamp was the selfie light we didn’t know we needed in our lives.

The tissue paper flowers were so beautiful and exactly the look that I was going for a (indoor) garden party!

IMG_4614IMG_4615IMG_4805

IMG_4901

I carried out the flower theme with the rest of the décor, adding it to the food table along with the entrance in the front foyer.

IMG_4849

The majority of the decor I found from Homesense or Winners. The white horse head (Winners), Green Leaf Balls (Homesense), Faux Flowers (Homesense), Stone Containers (Homesense), Plastic Trophies, Horses, Grass, , Mason Jars/Straws, Plastic White Fence (Dollarama), “Derby” Letters and Marquee Horseshoe (Michaels). IMG_4846

I used the hashtag “Talk Derby To Me” for the night because I love a good pun. This Lightbox by (My Cinema Lightbox) is a great decor piece that lets you get creative and express yourself with fun quotes or puns to really set the mood!  The adorable faux-fur wraps for the bottles I picked up from Winners.

Games:

No Derby party is complete without horse racing! I did a simple DIY version that had guests placing bets on toy horses to win the pot of money! I bought a green plastic tablecloth from Party City and then used green tape to outline the lines of the “track”. I made 6 starting positions where each of the players horses would start. For the horses, I picked up a package of toy horses from Dollarama and spray painted them gold. You will also need 6 dice.

Each player wagers $1 (or higher if you’re feeling lucky) and then each player rolls a dice to assign a horse. Next, roll all 6 of the dice, the number on the dice corresponds with which horse gets to move (i.e 662344- the “6” horse moves two spots, the “2” and “3” horse move 1 and the “4” horse moves two spots. First horse to cross the finish lines wins the pot!

Derby themed Bingo:

I printed off a number of bingo cards that had derby-themed sayings. This was simple to do since all I had to do was print and cut and have pens out for the players! I cut one card and placed all the sayings into a hat and pulled them from there.

Horseshoes:

Unfortunately with the cold weather we couldn’t do any outdoor games so I had to improvise with horseshoes by doing it indoors. I found a small plastic ring-toss game from the dollar store and spray painted it gold. It may not have been the best game of horseshoes but it did the trick and fit the theme, which was really what it was all about!

Bean-bag toss:

I picked up this game from Homesense for $29.00, quick and easy installation and safe to play indoors if you have the room to spread out the boards.

IMG_5394

Safe to say I got down and derby and horsed around all night!

Stepping into Spring (style)

Stepping into Spring (style)

Trying to step into Spring with some transitional pieces but Mother Nature has different plans for me.

IMG_2949

This striped knit dress from H&M took me right through the Fall and Winter seasons by simple adding a leather jacket over top. The stretch of the fabric makes this dress so comfortable and hugs in all the right places. I love the slits on the hem of the dress, they are also on the hem of the sleeves, I’m a huge fan in little details like those.

IMG_2955

I styled it this time around with a sleek black leather jacket, small black and gold embellished belt, black booties with gold-detailed heel and my new favourite saddle bag from Coach. The burgundy tone of the bag was the perfect compliment to the stripe pattern on the dress.

IMG_2942

Hopefully soon I’ll be packing away the leather jacket/boots and bringing out the sandals, flow-y summer fabrics and prints, but for now I’ll continue rocking looks like this one!

DIY Mermaid Costume

DIY Mermaid Costume

It’s no question that Halloween is one of my favourite holidays. As a little girl I always loved to get dressed in my costumes that my mom made, and so my story continues.

As you may have seen from my previous posts on my past DIY costumes, you will see I picked up my mom’s knack for creating handmade Halloween costumes. It is so rewarding when you get to put on the final creation and know it is uniquely yours.

For my costume last year I decided to create a mermaid. Countless Pinterest pins and scrolling through Instagram later I morphed all these ideas into one and made it my own.

First things first, the shell bra, because no mermaid costume is complete without one! Now I knew I wanted the shells, but didn’t want to wear just that. So, after finding some at the dollarstore I bedazzled the crap out of them, took them off their string and quick-stitched them onto a white tube-top.

img_7816

img_7740

img_7845

Now the skirt (or mermaid tail) of my costume had me thinking for a bit. I wanted something that I could easily move around in and wasn’t about to go buy one at the costume store. After all, that would defeat the purpose of my homemade halloween costumes! So, off to Value Village I went to try and find any sparkly or mermaid-like skirts to pull my costume together. While I wasn’t able to find a skirt that didn’t stop me from finding the most hideous dress with huge puffy sleeves (wish I had a before picture) and transforming it into a beautiful flowing skirt fit for mermaid. The colours of the fabric are what grabbed my attention. The sea green and blues in iridescent shades instantly had me sold.

img_7827

img_7825

What’s a mermaid without a crown? I found a silver tiara at the dollarstore and transformed it into a crown fit for a queen of the sea! I cut pieces of silver branches that I also added to the seashell bra and built it up around the crown and topping it off with a giant starfish.

img_7859

I didn’t stop there. I wanted a prop and thought a trident would be the perfect finishing touch. I spray painted an old devil’s pitchfork and added some more seashells and sparkles (the more the better)

img_7755

img_7737

img_7856

For my makeup and hair I went with purples and blues and ran with those same colours for the tips of my hair. Using just coloured eyeshadow I was able to create this look and added some gems and small starfish with eyelash glue.

No mermaid costume is complete without freshwater pearls!

Stay tuned for this year’s costume, I cannot wait to share it with you! Follow along on my Instagram (staffordable_blog) if you want to catch a glimpse!

Trendsetters and Cocktails with Mapleview Centre

Trendsetters and Cocktails with Mapleview Centre

I was so fortunate to be selected to attend  the”Trendsetters & Cocktails” Event with Mapleview Centre to help them launch their Personal Styling Program. It was located in Burlington at Station Home, in the same plaza as Holland Park Garden Gallery. I had never been to this venue before, but will definitely be going back to. It was the perfect setting for a fun-filled stylish night. We were immersed in  beautiful decor and trinkets that were for sale if anything caught your eye. Upon entering the event we were welcomed and headed straight to the bar (of course). How could we not with beautiful signature sangria and cotton candy cocktails? The staff from Saving Thyme did an incredible job catering the event. They walked around with a beautiful array of appetizers as well as the delicious macarons and pumpkin cheesecake dip that was on the table (conveniently in the line for the fashion illustrations). There were also staff from Purdy’s Chocolatier dishing out the latest and greatest chocolates and everyone’s favourite Purdy’s chocolate hedgehogs.

image

image

After taking a look around at the venue, grabbing some tasty treats and admiring all the decor pieces we decided to get in line to get our fashion illustrations done. This was one thing of the night that I was most looking forward to. I was lucky enough to have got an illustration done for me ahead of time from one of the outfits I submitted for the contest. I just couldn’t resist getting another sketch done after seeing how adorable mine had turned out. Mike Hakk is one extremely talented Fashion Illustrator from Toronto and I give him so credit for hanging in there for over 2 hours doing none stop illustrations. I can’t wait to get my illustrations framed. I will definitely be following along with him and would love to have him do some more illustrations for me in the future.

image

image

image

(Seriously cannot get over the cuteness!)

After the excitement of getting our sketches done, we headed over to the DIY flower bouquet station. There was a huge assortment of fresh fall flowers to pick from and assemble courtesy of Blossoms of Burlington. There is nothing I love more than fresh flowers in your home, especially when you get to pick exactly how you want it to look! Thanks so much for providing the beautiful blossoms to all of us!

image

While we are on the subject of blooms… can we talk about this amazing flower wall? When I walked in and saw this, and, noticed that my outfit matched perfectly I knew it was going to make for a great photo okay, many photos. There was a station set up that would take your picture for you and you could email it to yourself to share on social media. I could have taken endless pictures with this wall, job well done!

image

image

While we are on the topic of my outfit matching the flower wall let me talk a little bit about the details of my outfit choice. Now while I considered going for a super fall look I’m glad I went with the outfit I did. I paired this beautiful pink Zara jacket with a floral skirt also from Zara, a basic lace-trimmed tank-top and some pretty amazing wedge heels. I kept accessories to a minimum and instead of doing my typical statement necklace, I opted for a pair of statement earrings. The pair I’m wearing are the double sided stud in silver from Obsessions Fashion. Obsessions is my go-to place for accessorizing my life, and they fit in perfectly with my affordable style. Check out their Instagram, they are always posting their newest arrivals and even hosting contests were you could win some great swag!

image

image

image

After being totally spoiled it just kept getting better. Caryl Baker Visage was doing get eyebrow makeovers which I think is great for everyone to get to learn how to do them and do them properly. Now while me myself didn’t get them done I was in line to get my hair braided from the lovely ladies at Clip Salon. After seeing everyone walking around with amazing on trend braids I had to get one done! With so many types to choose from I really liked the braid Krystin from Suburban Faux Pas had so they recreated one on me. I loved it so much I wanted to show it off at work the next day. It actually held in place so well and I got so many compliments on it, I think I’ll have to practice so I can do it myself.

image

image

Nearing the end of the night I got to chat with two of the winners of the personal styling program at Mapleview (@themintedmama and @thestylemogul), a huge congrats again to you two, and to @iamkhoule for taking 1st place in the contest, you go girl! I also got a chance to talk to Krystin, who is seriously the sweetest and one bad-ass fashion/travel/decor and beauty blogger. She is so knowledgable about social media and blogging and is truly inspiring. We share such a similar sense of style and I love following along on her page to see her latest finds and outfit stylings! We chatted for a while about it and she gave me some little hints on how to enlarge my audience, we even snapped a pic together- I think that got me some serious street cred in the blogger world!

image

Thank you so much again to Mapleview Centre and their marketing agency- Midfield Interactive for putting on one amazing event, and putting together such a great swag bag. I had such a great time and I hope to see some of those beautiful/inspiring faces again very soon!

Hope you come back and visit soon!

Best of Fall: Mapleview Personal Stylist Submission

Best of Fall: Mapleview Personal Stylist Submission

With fall being fashion season I decided to put together some of my favourite looks. Clothes are all about expressing yourself and if you’re comfortable with yourself your style will only be elevated.

When I found out that Mapleview Centre is running a contest for a chance to win a $1,500 shopping spree and become the next Mapleview Personal Stylist, I just knew I had to jump at the opportunity and show what I was made of!

map_musestylist_contestdetailsbanner-sep9-v2

I’ve curated some of the latest trending styles that are currently available in stores near you. I hope to inspire with these looks and show you some of the trends that even I was unsure of at first and have now come to absolutely love. You will see many of my outfits are from H&M and Forever 21. These are my go-to stores for fashionable clothes that won’t break the bank (BIG STYLE, SMALL PRICE TAG!) It’s all about how you wear your clothes and carry yourself in them. One of my other fave tricks is mixing some expensive pieces with affordable pieces, you’ll have everyone fooled.

Look 1:

For my first outfit submission I went with an outfit that had me transitioning right into fall with burgundy, jean and fringe. The mid-length of this dress makes it the perfect item for fall days with a light jean jacket for cooler nights. I opted for black fringe sandals and large sunglasses to finish off the look.

image

image

image

Sunglasses: Quay
Jean Jacket: Winners
Dress: Old Navy
Shoes: Aldo

Look 2:

In keeping with the burgundy trend which is huge again this season, my second look is inspired by the theme of “borrowed from the boys.” Patterned pants from Old Navy are seriously my weakness, they have so many different styles and fun prints that you can’t go wrong picking up a pair (or two, or three). This pair of navy pants with burgundy and white stripes I paired with a lace blouse (to add some girly elements) and a burgundy blazer. In keeping with the theme I went for Cole Haan oxford’s that add a little different component to the regular business attire. Not to mention these shoes are seriously the most comfortable things ever!

image

image

image

image

Sunglasses: Rayban (Winners)

Blazer: Suzy Shier
Top: Ann Taylor
Pants: Old Navy
Shoes: Cole Haan

Look 3:

You can never go wrong with the cold-shoulder trend. With temperatures starting to drop, this 3/4 sleeve sheer patterned top is the perfect addition to your fall wardrobe. I paired it with dark overalls that have a slight bell-bottom to them. Now, I have to tell you that this is one trend I did not expect would make a comeback, nor did I see myself ever trying it out. When H&M released these overalls as part of their H&M X Coachella collection I was seeing a lot of celebrities in these and thought I’d try them out for myself. I was so surprised with how well they fit and the style is actually quite flattering. To keep my legs elongated (even though they’re already very long) I went for a small open-toe slip on heel. This is also a great idea so you can appreciate the beautiful bell-bottom hem on these.

Top: H&M
Overalls: H&M
Sunglasses: Rayban (Winners)
Shoes: Browns Shoes

Look 4:

This is what I call my Oktoberfest- inspired outfit. When I first picked up this dress I thought it looked kind of frumpy and wasn’t sure about the length. When I put it on and paired it with these high lace-ups it really brought the look to life. The dress is the perfect mix of comfy and stylish and can be worn much throughout the season because of its 3/4 sleeves. I’m also a huge fan of anything that has tassels on it, so I fell instantly in love with the long string tassels that added a fun element to this dress. The drop-waist really helps in avoiding a “bag” shaped dress.

image

image

image

image

image

image

image

image

image

Dress: H&M
Shoes: Forever 21
Sunglasses: Rayban (Winners)
Purse: Kate Spade

Look 5:

Fall florals are one of my favourite things about styling outfits during this season. This lightweight dress from H &M has the perfect essentials of mid-length, flutter shoulders, open-back and picture perfect pattern. I really love the high-neck on the dress, it’s keeping up with trends in every way. On the rack, this dress appeared to not have much shape to it but when I tried it on all that changed. I went with small black ankle-strap heels to keep the length elongated because of the long mid-length hem.

image

image

image

image

image

I seriously cannot get over the back of this dress. This cut-out really sold the dress for me and adds a little bit of romance that goes a long way.

image

Dress: H&M
Shoes: Winners

Look 6:

This look is my take on fall “sweater weather.” I took that trend and amped it up by mixing it in with another midi-dress. The ribbed knit texture of this dress, along with the striped blocking in some of fall’s hottest colours makes this dress swoon-worthy. I love the slits on the sides of the bottom of the dress and there are even ones on the arm. This dress is flattering in all the right places and I can predict this is going to be on repeat for a while. As with my last midi-dress, I paired this one with the same delicate heels to elongate my body and keep the focus on this beautiful dress.

image

image

image

image

image

image

image

Dress: H&M
Shoes: Winners

Look 7:

This look encompasses all the latest trends into one. From the bottom, I went with a metallic pair of slip on espadrilles (warning: metallic colours and fabrics are going to be huge this season, both in beauty and fashion!) They say distressed is best, and I couldn’t agree more when it comes to my new favourite pair of jeans. The wash of these jeans is unlike any other and the frayed cut is to die-for. These jeans have been seen on fashion bloggers and stylists all over and I can see why. This pair is meant to fit a little more loosely, which is right on cue with the slouchy trend for jeans are this season. On top, I paired my camo t-shirt (I feel like this trend is here to stay), with a bomber jacket in the same colour. The bomber jacket trend has taken off huge in fashion this season where we see celebrity style moguls like Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Kim Kardashian and the Hadid sisters to name a few who rock this
“bomb” trend out of the park. To finish off the ultimate cool-girl look I went with the never failing Rayban wayfarers.

image

image

image

image

Taking it one step further I wanted to show how you could go from day to night with this look. By simply adding a fun pair of bright coloured pumps you’re ready for a night out in a flash.

image

image

image

Bomber Jacket: Forever 21

Shirt: Forever 21

Jeans: Zara

Espadrilles: Payless

Pink Pumps: Winners

Sunglasses: Rayban (Winners)

Look 8:

This look was one that I had the most hesitation about. I call this the “all the bell (sleeves) and whistles” inspired trend. Again, who would have thought that bell-bottoms and bell-sleeves would make such a huge comeback in the fashion world? The delicate lace detailing on this shirt and soft mauve colour makes this trend one to reckon with. I went with light brown skinny jeans and light green boot heels. I really like the colour combo and that everything isn’t perfectly matchie-matchie, yet matches perfectly. I kept accessories simple on this one as to not take away from the beautiful details on the shirt and went with a gold chain choker necklace instead of a statement necklace or a longer chain one.

image

image

When I saw these boots the first thing I thought of was Kim Kardashian who sports similar Yeezy boots like these. The see-through yellow-tinted heels make these shoes a show-stopping item for fall!

image

image

Shirt: Forever 21
Jeans: Mango
Boots: Winners

Look 9:

I went for the monochromatic trend with this look and added some really fun tread heels!  This was a fun look I wore to work and besides getting lots of “wow you’re really tall in those” comments I got a ton of compliments on how professional I looked. The navy jumpsuit and grid patterned jacket are balanced out with a small white vintage Calvin Klein belt. I couldn’t resist pairing this outfit with these shoes, surprisingly they are extremely comfortable and go with just about anything (and match my purse to boot!)

Why I should be Mapleview’s next Personal Stylist:

I developed my sharp eye and love for fashion at a young age, reading fashion magazines and playing dress-up. I’ve always loved following the latest trends and styling friends and family. After completing my Sociology degree and beginning my work in the court system I started to set my sights on my real passion- writing, fashion, and shopping and the like.

I started my affordable fashion blog (Staffordable_Blog) as a place where I could express myself through my love of writing and fashion and hopefully inspire others along the way.

With my strong attention to detail, exceptional interpersonal skills, and fun approach to styling I know I will be a great fit as a Mapleview Personal Stylist.

Fall Catwalk Beauty Trends 2016 Event

Fall Catwalk Beauty Trends 2016 Event

On September 8th I was lucky enough to be selected to attend Dave Lackie’s Fall Catwalk Beauty Trends 2016 Event at Hudson’s Bay Toronto.

image

Dave started the night off with some great stories of how he started in the industry and shared some funny experiences he had in his first jobs and celebrities he met along the way. Dave said how he followed his passion and that if you really love something and enjoy it,the money will come. Since starting my blog just two years ago, it’s opened me up to an entire world out there that I didn’t really know existed before. Once meeting Dave and all the other lucky guests that attend his events it ignited a spark in me to write more, take lots of pictures and share this passion with others.

Dave then talked about some of the hottest trends hitting the biggest catwalks this fall. I was pleasantly surprised to see dark  reds and even black shades for the “it” lipstick shade. I already went out and purchased one, can’t wait to test it out! Reds are still a hot colour for the season, which I especially love to rock around the holidays! Keeping the rest of your makeup more neutral and simple allows you to go for a bolder lip without overdoing it. We saw another trend of ombre lips which I think once I figured it out could be amazing!

Jumping forward, we got a sneak peek at some of the beauty trends coming our way in 2017. Orange is the colour in beauty for Spring 2017!

I had a really great time at this event, and learned so much about Global trends and all the intricate little details that designers put into their beauty products for us to enjoy. Let’s just say, I have really started to grow an appreciation for beauty products and I’m loving following the stories being told through the designers.

Thanks for another inspiring night Dave. I can’t thank you enough for the generous gift bag that you sent all of us home with. I’ll be travelling to Vegas at the end of the month and these minis are the perfect size to pack.

Can’t wait to see you, and everyone else’s beautiful faces and personalties again soon!
